One Night Cocktail Bar: A Recap

Hello friends!

It was so good to so some of you in-person this past Friday!

For those that were able to come, I hope you enjoyed the drinks, conversation and atmosphere!

For those unable to attend, I hope to see you at the next one, because we're planning on more of them!

This will be the last email I send about the 'one night cocktail bar' for awhile. I hope you enjoy this little recap.

Photos & Video

We didn't remember to take many photos, but here's a taste and a quick video Kirsten talk walking through the house turned 'cocktail bar'.

What Happened?

Over the course of the evening:

  • 19 couples took part in the experience
  • $297 was given in tips which we're going to donate
  • 85+ cocktails were made
  • Our 12yr old son helped out from 6pm to 12am and had a great time
  • We created a menu of 4 cocktails (see below) and the two most popular cocktails were Gin Blossom and El Amor Eterno
  • The 'secret' menu item was a cocktail called the M&M, which is just equal parts Mezcal & Montenegro, and is a common one for mixologists to drink at the end of their shift.

Our Biggest Takeaways

Kirsten and I were in the kitchen from 2pm to 12am on Friday and it FLEW by. We had a blast and took a few lessons away:

  • We learned that this idea is even more fun in real life than in our heads.
  • I low-key want to become a bartender / mixologist now...I love the art and history of them, as well as the conversations and depth great cocktails and their settings help enable.
  • Ideas like this are impossible to pull off without friends. I'm so thankful for deep relationships and the ability to create experiences together.
  • This idea, or versions of it, resonates with people. Multiple friends shared their OWN plans to create similar experiences for others.
  • Hospitality is a lot of work, but it feels so good to use the resources we've been given to love and serve and laugh with other people!
  • It's important to create space to dream out loud with others. I can't recommend it enough. This wouldn't have happened if Kirsten and I didn't go on dates ourselves where we dream out loud together.
